June 14th Meeting

Marina Del Rey Anglers Meeting, Burton Chace Park, Marina Del Rey.

Call to order by Vic J. at 7:35 pm after introductions of club directors and new visitors were welcomed we went right into the White Sea Bass panel.

Cesar Chaves, Bobby Martinez, Vic Jedlika, Dick Shafer, Larry Derr

told us lots of hot information on what where how and what works!

Review of the WSB tips given...

Youth Fishing program...

Chairman of the club Youth Fishing Program, Richard Sommers, reviewed the program last year and what we are building into this year. 

As a guest we had Tylor and Tammy from the Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club to give us at taste of what it is like from the kids perspective.

Turnout even with a Lakers game on... Was pretty good.

Tom Raftican reviewed the CAST Tournament and helped to sign up a few more entrants.  Tom and Paul Simon both gave us a lot of hot information on the White Sea Bass fish population and the grow out program.

Did you know:

• over the past 3 years 375,000 white sea bass in the 6-8 inch range have been released.
• the program is mandated buy the state until the release is 350,000 fish per year for a sustained 3 year period.
• the return of the big white sea bass is due to the removal of the gill nets from state waters (Prop. 132 - protects the first 3 miles from shore)
• we have a 1 fish per angler limit as it is sponing season for the white sea bass.
• the bag limit for white sea bass changes to 3 fish per angler on Friday June 16th.
