Feb 9th 2005 MeetingMarina Del Rey Anglers Meeting, Burton Chace Park, Marina Del Rey. Call to order by Ken at 7:35 pm after introductions of club directors and new visitors were welcomed we were pleased to hear a good presentation from Jeff of West marine about PFD's and Boat Safety and Radios. Here Jeff Demonstrated the inflating PFD that you wear around your waist and can keep on your person at any time. Great for personal safety and ease of wear.
Also a long list of safety equipment was reviewed. flares and such. But the most interesting part for many was the demonstration of the smarter technology of the new radios.
If you property set up your id numbers you can pull your friends radio to your channel automatically! Great for many times you really want to reach someone but do not know what channel he has his VHF left on. Who knows. Maybe he doesn't either. So look for Digital Selective Calling in your next radio! |
