Great Halibut Derby

We are very proud of you both and the financial success it has been.  That took a lot of work to get the sponsors and the entrants and the big party!  Wow!  Congratulations.

Spring 2010

Sample of some 2010 meetings:

August meeting was great

The last meeting of MDR Anglers was a great show. Our speaker was Bill Boyce.  His presentation was on the Galapagos.  We had a good raffle.

July meeting was Big Game

The meeting had three presenters.  One covered local fishing for White Seabass.  One covered the ins and Outs of Southern California Marlin fishing.  And the third covered the charter fishing options we have from Southern California ports like we have in San Diego.  We are all primed for the best fishing of the 2010 season.  We also had a really good raffle.

past 2000 News:

July 12th Meeting

Speaker is Barry Brightenberg of Fish Trap Lures.  7 pm in Burton Chace Park.  In the Community room.  Parking is free.  Open to the public.   All MDRA club members are encouraged to attend.

WSB

They are still biting.  The best time to be on the spot is from 3 am to 4:30 am it seems.  Early am or verrry late at night works but is spotty.  If you want more than one... go all night.

One Day Jackpot and first day of CAST tournament.  Many entered and fished.  Some club members won more jackpots and again we partied at PMYC.

April 12th Meeting

On April 12th  we had Jim Rounds as our speaker.  He heads the halibut hatchery that recently had the break in and theft of the big breeder halibut.  He gave a very informative talk with a slide show and good news

3 of the 4 halibut we donated via our MDR Halibut Derby are doing well.  one was handled to much and died as the results of the subsequent infections etc.  The tail had splits from the net and the narrow had hand marks from being picked up.  That will remove all the "slime" that protects the fish.  (he showed the photos around)
