Next Club Meeting
(2nd Wednesday of the month)!
Club
Meeting - October 8
This
is a must attend meeting. Picture yourself fishing on a pristine
Alaskan river, landing huge trout and 4 different species of salmon
surrounded by majestic mountains and sharing this scene with bears, elk
and bald eagles nearly everywhere you look.. The plan for tomorrow is
to catch trophy halibut and monster ling cods. Rivers Inlet Sportsmans
Lodge is donating an all inclusive trip for two to the MDR Halibut Derby
and Fishing Director Simon Kelly will be with us Wednesday, October 8 to
share some of his incredible experiences with clients in the rugged and
exquisitely gorgeous Alaskan wilderness. Please mark your calendars to
be with us to thank Simon and to experience some of his adventures.
Club
Meeting September 10
Professional kayakers, Paul Quirk and Mark Pierpont, will join us
September 10 to introduce us to their world of kayak fishing. Entering
the world of private water craft has never been easier. Kayaks are
cheap and safe and, boy, do they catch fish. Mark and Paul both caught
eligible halibut at the MDR Halibut Derby. Other kayakers caught legal
halibut but less than the 26 inch minimum to be weighed at the derby
scales, meaning kayakers caught a high percentage of the total fish on
derby day. Mark Pierpont nailed 3rd place at the MDR Halibut Derby with
a 36 pound butt from his kayak. This is fishing, up close and
personal. Come learn how they do it and maybe join them on an outing.

The MDRA monthly
meetings are typically held in Marina Del Rey's Burton Chase Park in the community room.
Every second Wednesday. Some have very interesting speakers. Some
meetings have food. All meeting include lots of fishermen and fisherwomen
sharing info about the sport we love.

Save Your White Sea Bass Heads!
|
Our Mission
To promote the sport of fishing and to be champions of conservation and good sportsmanship.
Examples of how we do this would be our Youth Fishing Program
and our Ocean Resources Enhancement Program (aka the Fish Grow Out Pen full of
white sea bass).
Along the way we have a lot of fun and go fishing
often. Mostly Salt Water species in Southern California. But
we also recognize and reward member anglers who fish any where in the
world.
MDR Anglers members were early supporters of Tag and
Release of marlin and efforts to ban gillnets in the near-shore waters of
Southern California.

Marina Del Rey, in Los Angeles California, is home to the largest man made
marina for pleasure boats and fishing boats. The
boat launch-ramp is large and has excellent docking facilities. This web site is
for the fishing community of Marina Del Rey
in general and the sport fishing club Marina Del Rey
Anglers, Inc. specifically.
We love Fishing for all types of saltwater fish.
Marlin, Halibut, Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado, Wahoo, White Sea Bass, Calico
Bass, Sand Bass and many
other ocean game fish. If you are a saltwater sport fisherman drop us a
line.

Sample of MDRA's Volunteer efforts
See the 2004 Discover Marina Del
Rey Day photos
On that day we released 2300+ fish AND taught a few kids how to fish. We did it
again and in each year since.
The White Seabass grow out pans have released over 1 million
fish up and down the coast. Our two MDR pens have the lowest mortality
rate of all the grow out pens. You can volunteer to be a Pen Pal and help raise
baby fish too.
