AWARDS PARTY DESERVES IT'S OWN AWARD!

Fisherman of the Year - KEN BROCK 1120 points! Runner-up-Bobby Martinez 760 points!
The Marina del Rey Anglers Awards Dinner is an annual event. This year it was outstanding. Sixty members attended. There were over eighty certificates awarded for meritorious service to the club; fifteen trophies for fishing accomplishments, more buttons than we care to count and a sumptuous dinner. What more could you want? Marina del Rey Anglers throw some really great affairs, especially when organized by Vice President Richard Somers.and President Allen Ventura. Derby Chairman Ken Raymond presented twenty-four awards for the men and women that contributed their time and energy to the successful 2002 Halibut Derby. Richard Somers recognized the men and women who spent many summer days accompanying the Youth Fishing trips on the chartered "Betty O". Conservation Chairman Paul Simon presented certificates to the "Pen Pals", individuals who spend one hour a week maintaining the white seabass grow-out pens. Allen Ventura awarded trophies for "Fish of the Month" and "Catch of the Month". He also awarded boat flags for the first and heaviest fish caught in many different species, and awarded buttons for the anglers who qualified by catching various species sizes. The Award Party was fortunate to be entertained by the music of Roger Breternitz, his guitar, harmonica and splendid voice.Awardees for service to the Youth Fishing Program are Captain Mike Reinsch, Marshall Wax, Jay Shery, Mike Ribeiro, Victor Jedlicka, Ken Feldman, Ken Brock, Jerry Napolitano, Dave Napolitano, Dave Napolitano Jr., Zach Napolitano, Matt Napolitano, Paul Simon, Leslie Solymosi, Marie Solymosi, The Belda Family (Greg, Dora, Kelly), Roger Breternitz, Mike Cooley, Cephus Daniels, Jack Dreger, Bob Godfrey, Mort Goldberg, Ted Haddad, Mike Kassel, Michelle Kaufman, Larry King, Mike Kraft, Len Nadler, Wayne Pecot, Basil Raymond, Ken Raymond, John Romanak, Dick Schaeffer, Larry Silver, Ron Smothers, Streeter Turner, Art Vanetek, Allen Ventura, Elliot Wasser, and Jack Yoches.
