Our 2011 winner Don Writes to us:

Gentlemen, Many thanks for all the fun, kind words and advice for Saturday's tournament. After 20 years fishing the MDR Halibut Derby, I finally had the big one and the thrills are still coming. Last night's Halibut Tacos weren't so bad either! Thanks again for making this thing happen. Our crew of seven all had wonderful time including our annual bonfire and campout Friday night in the parking lot! best wishes to all in the MDR Club and special thanks to Bob, Ken and Ed.

Don fished along with Alan Perry (Capt), Bill Harms, and Bull Talunas The boat they fished on is a 22 ft Defiance named the “But’s UP”. They caught their monster in 51 ft of water at 10 AM. The fish bit on a sardine using a circle hook and 30 lb line. Like many halibut, it came in nice an easy until it got into the cooler and then the serious complaining began.
