April 1st and 2nd 2000 A charity event produced by Marina Del Rey Anglers Inc. for the benefit of conservation and youth activities. MANY BIG HALIBUT WILL EARN ANGLERS BIG PRIZES! FIRST PLACE PRIZE in the individual competition will be an all expense paid trip for two people to Homer Alaska to fish from lovely Dog Fish Bay resort. Last year's winner Harold Cabrera reported a terrific time fishing for giant Pacific Halibut and King Salmon. The airfare has been generously provided by Alaska Air Lines. The lucky winner will fly with a favorite fishing buddy to Anchorage Alaska and then a hop down to Homer. The Dog Fish Bay staff will pick you up there.SECOND PLACE PRIZE in the individual competition will be a trip for two people to Mazatlan. Four nights lodging at the Inn at Mazatlan and fishing with Bill Heimpel's Star Fleet. Airfare included. THIRD PLACE PRIZE in the individual competition will be a trip for two people to Mazatlan. Lodging and Fishing from the magnificent El Cid Marina and Resort. Airfare is included. FOURTH PLACE PRIZE in the individual competition will be a trip for two people to the East Cape of Baja one of the world’s hottest fishing spots, and stay at Hotel Punta Colorada. Airfare and food are included, and best of all, three days fishing! FIFTH PLACE PRIZE in the individual competition will be a trip for two people to Rosarita Beach, 45 miles south of San Diego. This trip includes two nights lodging, at the beautiful Las Rocas Resort & Spa and two days fishing with Gordos Ensanada. What marvelous vacations! All five locations have great fishing. Sixth to tenth place the winners will receive a Rod and Reel combinations and other terrific prizes. Big Halibut are out there. All you have to do is bring them to your boat, and then to the weigh-in. We’re rooting for you. Remember no Halibut under 24 inches.
If the top fish is over 43 pounds the top winner can drive off with the new year 2000 F150. Burch Ford and Team Borrocho have sponsored this extra prize.
Youth Division We encourage the younger generation to enjoy the outdoors and learn respect of our natural environment. The entry fee is only $25 for the Youth Division. All youth under 15 are eligible and the top three winners receive prizes and split a large cash jackpot. Youth entrants are eligible to win the New Ford Truck. Team Competition Teams are 2 to 4 people. Anglers entered in the individual competition can be on up to 4 teams. Team members can be on different boats. You can win as an individual AND on a team. The team rules use points and are weighted to favor quality fish and skill of the whole team. There will be first, second, and third place prizes for teams. Charities Supported Many worthwhile organizations and conservation activities are supported by your entry in this fun Derby.
