SCENIC DOG FISH BAY Fishing Lodge awaits the winner. Five days, four nights, all meals and three days fishing provided by the hotel. Freezing and packing your catch for the trip home. is available. 4th PRIZE ** ROSARITO
BEACH and ENSENADA.

Five days and four nights at the superb LAS ROCAS Resort at Rosarito Beach. Forty-five miles South of Tijuana on a well kept highway. Two days fishing out of Gordo’s Landing in Ensenada, about 20 miles South of the Hotel. Good fishing year round and Ensenada is pretty lively at night. You’ve heard of Hussong’s, no doubt. Meals will be provided by the Halibut Derby.

Team Competition

EACH ANGLER ENTERED IN THE DERBY can also be on up to 4 teams, each team can have from 2 to 4 anglers. Team members do not have to be on the same boat and do not have to weigh in at the same time. Teams score points for the weight of the fish and number of fish. Each team member may weigh in one fish per day. The formula for scoring allows a two-man team to compete with a four-man team. Prizes for the top three teams are cash. The amount is dependent on the number of teams that sign up. You can take advantage of being on a team, calling your buddies on the VHF when you hit a hot spot.

Youth Tournament

ONE PURPOSE OF THE DERBY IS TO SUPPORT the Greater Los Angeles Youth Fishing Program, attracting youths to this great sport. What better example can we set than having youths in their own tournament. So bring your kids, sign them up, They will be competing with other youths. The prizes are cash, the amount depending on the number signed up. It’s a real big thrill for the youths when they’re in the top three, winning an important CASH prize.

Donate Extra Halibut

YOU CAN WEIGH IN ONLY ONE FISH PER DAY per angler. All fish weighed in must be 24 inches or more. If you have one or more that are under 24 inches or a second fish that you don’t need for the Derby, call for the HUBBS BIOLOGISTS on CHANNEL 72. They will arrange to meet you to take the fish aboard their boat. Later, you will receive a hat or a pin, and you will have done a good service for the ecology. The fish will be taken to the Hatchery in Carlsbad, California, for breeding purposes. The Ocean Enhancement Program is currently concentrating on White Sea Bass, but the next species will be Halibut.

REMEMBER— NO HALIBUT UNDER 24" WILL BE WEIGHED IN !

To promote conservation let the small ones go or save them for the Broodstock Program.
